Automatic Time Matters Backups

Regular, automatic backups of your Time Matters data defend you against losing all your records. It is especially important that you run backups every day to protect your most recent calendar events and contacts, ones you need readily available for your current work.

How to Set Up the Automatic Time Matters Backups

  • Go to: Main Menu / File / Backup Time Matters Data

  • Check the two Skip boxes (shown as Item #2, above).

  • Choose a time of day.

  • Check Every day.

  • Press OK.

Back Up Your Backups

The automatic backups are saved on the same drive as you Time Matters database. These backups are important to have if something goes horribly wrong with your Time Matters data. You can “go back in time” to yesterday or earlier.

You also need to have your backups on a different drive. A mechanical failure, operating system crash, power outage, virus attack or ransomware could destroy everything on the drive where you have Time Matters and your Time Matters backups.

Item #1 in the above screenshot shows the location of your Time Matters data backups unless that location has been change within the SQL Server software used for the Time Matters database. Include the SQL backup folder in your selections for your backup software program.

Use a third party program to back up your Time Matters backup file to another drive in your office and also to a secure cloud data center. See our companion website, https://securemyfirm.com, for backup options. Our DoubleBackup service backs up your files both locally and in our secure data center.

Check Your Backups Regularly

To make sure your backups are working, check them regularly. Look in the backup folder for your Time Matters database. Check the file date of the most recent .bak file.
