Record Your Time - Get Out Your Bills

TMBills may be a good choice for you if you just want to record time and get our your bills without having to enter and update client and matter information in two systems separately. For example, if you change an address in Time Matters, you want it changed in your billing system. You avoid the embarrassment of sending a bill to the wrong place.

In addition, TMBills lets you track Accounts Receivable, accept payments, maintain your Trust Account, and produce a wide range of reports, including Billable Hours, Fees by Client and Matter, and many more.

RTG Bills Included in TMBills

TMBills bundles a full license for RTG Bills, a law office time and billing program first released in 1991. This proven program delivers a full set of timekeeping and billing features through a no-nonsense interface that is easy to learn.

TMBills integrates Time Matters with RTG Bills. You use the best practice management software, Time Matters, with straightforward timekeeping and billing. Using TMBills, you add new clients and matters in Time Matters and they are synchronized to RTG Bills. You can keep RTG Bills open all day long and switch to it to enter time records, check billing status, and produce bills.

The RTG Software website provides a full set of support materials, including Frequently Asked Questions and illustrative slideshows. In addition, your purchase of TMBills includes e-mail support directly from RTG Software for all questions about timekeeping, billing and reporting with RTG Bills.

Accounting: QuickBooks Friendly

If your law office is like most others, you handle bank accounts, tax records and financial reports in a program like QuickBooks or Quicken, or you have a bookkeeper or accountant doing your books. If so, TMBills is a good choice.

With TMBills you need to enter payments you receive from your clients in two different places, but many people like having a two-entry system to track these important transactions. TMBills supports optional, one-way synchronization of client expenses from QuickBooks.

TMBills does not include a full accounting, but easily tracks your Accounts Receivable, handles trust account balances, and offers a wide range of reports.

One-Way Synchronization from Time Matters

TMBills synchronizes selected Contact and Matter information from Time Matters. Unfortunately, there is no alternative to Billing Matters that is built into Time Matters. All of the choices require synchronization or linking.

When you change a name, address, e-mail address or phone number in Time Matters, the change synchronizes to TMBills when you select TMBills Update in Time Matters. You have control over which records and what information synchronizes.

Reports and Customization

TMBills offers a full set of reports and features, but it does not offer custom fields. It has some reports Billing Matters does not have. TMBills omits some reports that Billing Matters includes. Please contact us with any questions about specific reports you may need. TMBills has flexible report customization features and is even programmable with Microsoft Access.

Flexible Time Entry Options

Using inexpensive add-ons, you can enter time records away from the office on laptops, smartphones, and home computers. A monthly subscription of $8.95 give you access to a secure, private Web page for entering time and expense records.

Conversion from Billing Matters and Other Billing Programs

Converting from one program to another always involves time, effort and expense. We designed TMBills to minimize the hassles for our Billing Matters clients. We have developed tools for converting Contact information, Matter information and prior balances from Time Matters / Billing Matters to TMBills. You may take advantage of a flat-fee conversion package priced from $695 to $995 and available to most users of Billing Matters and other billing programs.
